History

The General Coordinatorship of Application and Research Centers of Giresun University was established based on the relevant articles of the Higher Education Law No. 2547, with the aim of increasing our university's scientific production capacity, encouraging interdisciplinary studies, and strengthening institutional memory.

Our unit has been structured to ensure that application and research centers operating in different fields within our university work in coordination under a single roof. Our first directive, which was a significant milestone in our institutional structuring process and was accepted at the Senate meeting dated October 28, 2016, has been revised in line with the changing needs and expanding vision of our university. In this context, our new directive, which determines our current working principles, entered into force with the Senate decision dated September 17, 2024, numbered 260-4, and our Coordinatorship has attained its current dynamic structure.

As of today, our Coordinatorship coordinates the activities of numerous centers serving in a wide range of fields from health to social sciences, and from science to educational technologies. Pursuant to Article 16 of our Directive, this new organizational model, which replaces the old structure, has taken its place in the history of the university as a supra-coordination mechanism that ensures our centers act together not only administratively but also in line with strategic goals.
